Negocio Cuajado
Son Puros Quesos
Hand screen printed graphic inspired by Los Cuates de Sinaloa’s 1999 corrido, Negocio Cuajado.
In the song, a cocaine dealer jokes about having a curd business because it looks like he deals blocks of cheese.
This graphic references the fictional curd front with dairy imagery featuring portraits of Chalino Sanchez and a 90’s truck popular during this time, all in a classic diary packaging style.
The word, “Cuajado” strikes a chord of both discomfort and humor as it means both curd and coagulated. The latter alludes to the grotesque. While this shirt is lighthearted in nature, the discomfort in the word “Cuajado” alludes to the grotesque insensitivity involved in narcotic organized crime.
